The Thermocouple from IPS Automation is an industrial temperature sensor designed for
reliable temperature measurement in pipelines, tanks, vessels, furnaces, boilers, reactors, heat
exchangers, and process equipment. A thermocouple works by joining two dissimilar metal
wires at a measuring junction; when there is a temperature difference between the measuring
junction and reference junction, a small voltage is generated and converted into a temperature
reading by the connected instrument or transmitter.
Thermocouples are widely used in manufacturing and process industries because they are
rugged, fast responding, cost-effective, and suitable for a broad temperature range, including
harsh and high-temperature environments. They can be supplied in different element types such
as J, K, T, E, N, R, S, and B, with sheath, insulation, head, cable, and process connection
options selected according to the application. For demanding industrial service, thermocouples
are commonly installed with thermowells to protect the sensing element from pressure,
corrosion, vibration, and direct process exposure.
